What Are Insulated Sandwich Panels?

A sandwich panel is a factory-engineered composite consisting of an insulation material core bonded between two metal or other compatible sheets. This integrated solution delivers structure, insulation, and weather resistance in one product, dramatically reducing construction time These panels are designed to perform reliably in extreme heat as well as the diverse climatic conditions of

other parts of the world, supported by high-performance insulation cores and advanced protective coatings.

 CORE INSULATION MATERIALS:

a) POLYURETHANE FOAM:

Compare to other insulation Materials, PU has the good density and excellent adhesive properties to metal sheets on both sides. because of its insulation property it is recommended primarily for locations where insulation and cooling are crucial.

This is of 2 Types B-1 and B-2. The difference is that B-2 is more resistant to Fire than B3 and the amount of smoke is less than B3.

Generally, B-3 PU sandwich panels come with 35-37 Kg. /Cu.m density, whereas B-2 PU panels with 38- 40 Kg. /Cu.m density.

b) PIR (Polyisocyanurate): Now a days it is widely preferred.

The difference between PU and PIR is about the same resistant to fire, In the case of PIR  the quantity of smoke when burning is less than B-2. When it is exposed to fire, it forms a stable protective char layer that resists burning and slows the spread of flames.

c) EPS (Expanded Polystyrene):

It is cost-effective option but has less insulating property compared to polyurethane.

d) rock wool: Also known as Stone wool, interpreted as mineral wool though mfg. process it is bit different.

Rock wool is popular for its superior fire resistance, thermal and acoustic insulation.

Energy efficient and durable non-combustible material, does not produce toxic fumes.

Also, moisture resistant.

OTHER CORE MATERIALS ARE Glass wool, XPS etc.

What Are Metal Building Materials?

Metal building materials are metals and metal-based products commonly used in construction for structural strength, durability, and protection. The main types that are offered by us are Purlins (Z purlins and C Purlins), Metal Decking sheets, Stud and Track, GI Lintels, perforated metals sheets, Pre-Engineered Steel Frames, Light Gauge Steel,

Trapezoidal / Corrugated Metal Sheets, Metal Shingles, Insulated Metal Panels (IMP),

· Z & C PURLINS: These are sharped as ‘Z’ and ‘C’, horizontal supports that bear loads of deck or sheathing.

These are light weight cost effective supports for roofing and wall cladding in steel buildings.

· DECKING SHEETS:

Metal/ GI decking sheets are profiled sheets that are used to form composite floor slabs., which are laid between beams and act as a permanent formwork for a wet concrete slab. Are significantly stronger and stiffer than a conventional concrete slab of the same depth.

· PROFILE / TRAPEZOIDAL / CORRUGATED SHEETS: These are ideal for roofing.

Widely used in Warehouses, Garages, Large infrastructure projects. These are roll formed sheets.

GI/ PPGI, Aluzinc, Aluminum profiled sheets are offered.

Pl. Tell Us About Honeycomb Core And Panels?

ALUMINUM HONEYCOMB:

Aluminum honeycomb is an advanced material which is preferred in modern architectural and industrial applications. It is a light weight composite material where an Aluminum Honeycomb core which is made from thin Aluminum foil bonded to compatible materials like Aluminum sheets, wood etc. to form a hexagonal cell structure. It offers exceptional stiffness, excellent strength-to-weight ratio. It is non-combustible and corrosion resistant material with an excellent flatness and rigidity.

The Aluminum honeycomb core and panels which are fire resistant are considered as ideal in Transport, aerospace, construction sectors.

PAPER HONEYCOMB:

Paper honeycomb core and panels - manufactured kraft paper into a hexagonal honeycomb structure.

It is light weight material yet strong, high stiffness and compressive strength. Cost effective and environmentally friendly. Used as Cavity fillers in doors, Packaging, Decorations, furniture etc.

Paper honeycomb core also can be bonded between outer facings like paper board, MDF and other compatible materials for a few specific applications.

Fire Rated, Self Fire Exringuishing, Fire Retardant Means? And Materials?

· Fire resistant materials: These can withstand fire and high temperature for a period.

Create barriers to heat, smoke and flame preventing collapse.

Concrete, Bricks, glass wool, rock wool, Calcium silicate boards, MgO Boards, Phenolic Foam etc.

· Fire rated material: a material that has been tested by accredited labs to fire resistance for a time period (measured in minutes or hours) without any failure. Also maintain structural integrity in case of structural material, insulation and Flame containment.

Fire rated sandwich panels (rock wool sandwich panels), Fire rated doors, Fire rated boards (ex. MgO boards) are some of them.

· Self - fire Extinguishing material:

It means this material stops burning on its own once the ignition source is removed.

Only limits fire spread and does not guarantee fire resistance. PIR (polyisocyanurate) foam, Polycarbonate is an example.

· Fire retardant material:

It is chemically treated to slow ignition and flame spread.

Meaning to say it delays fire growth, but not fire resistant or Fire self-extinguishing.

Fire retardant EPS (Expanded Polystyrene), there are some coatings, even fire-retardant plywood.

What are cleanroom and cold room construction materials?

Cleanroom and cold rooms are generally temperature and hygiene sensitive. To maintain it, proper insulated panels have to be opted to build these rooms. Insulated sandwich panels, insulated doors, PVC coving or Aluminum Coving, Pass boxes etc. materials are integral part of any cleanroom or cold room construction.

INSULATED SANDWICH PANELS FOR CLEANROOMS CONSTRUCTION:

The sandwich panels / Insulated panels that are used for construction of

cleanrooms come with skin without any ribs on it (Flat surface) to ensure

no contamination takes place and easily washable surface.

PUF (Polyurethane Foam), PIR (Poly Isocyanurate), EPS (Expanded

Polystyrene), rock wool are the core insulation materials. The Tongue

and Groove panels are manufactured on Continuous manufacturing

method / on continuous line or Discontinuous Batch production. On the

continuous line any length panels can be manufactured subject to

transportation, in the discontinuous/ Batch production generally the

length is limited to 6 – 9m. These panels are also known as

PROGERESSIVE PANELS.

There is another Type which is known as NON – PROGRESSIVE PANELS,

here the skin Aluminum, SS or PPGI Peripheral Face covered.

INSULATED SANDWICH PANELS FOR COLD ROOMS CONSTRUCTION:

PU (Polyurethane Foam) i.e PUF or PUR core and PIR (Polyisocyanurate) core sandwich panels are ideal for cold room construction. These panels come with either no rib metal or Aluminum skin on both sides or without Rib. Two types are there viz. Tongue and groove panels and CAM LOCK panels.

DOORS: Cleanroom doors are insulated, single and double leaf doors,

Normally 40mm – 60mm thk. No rib skin shutters with specialized hardware.

Cold room doors which are insulated, thickness varies from 60- 200mm depending upon thickness of the panels and temperature to be maintained in the cold rooms. Hinge Type and Sliding Types doors.

Chute doors/ Hatch doors which are small in size are for drawing materials from cold rooms, because temperature loss may occur if main large doors are opened regularly.

COVING: Aluminum and PVC Coving are widely used.

It is an essential flashing of a different shape used wall-to-wall, Wall-to-ceiling, Wall-to-Floor corners and junctions. Objective of fixing the coving is to eliminate sharp corners, to prevent contamination and ease cleaning of the rooms.

Cold rooms, refrigerated storages, Pharma and food processing facilities,

Biotech labs and hospitals are application areas.

PVC COVING is smooth, non-porous material which is cost effective. It is

preferred because of flexible design for seamless corners installation.

ALUMINUM COVING is preferred because it is long lasting, fire resistance, high strength and rigidity, dimensional stability. Suits for high-traffic and heavy-duty environments. Both Mill finish/ anodized and Powder coated Aluminum coving are used.

External coving and radius corners are also there.
